Nancy is excited to be returning to Enchantment. She and her husband, Don, also a member of Enchantment, went on hiatus from the group to get their two sons through high school, with all of the busy, formative, high-quality life experiences that that entailed.
Nancy is a band and orchestra teacher, recently retired from teaching in the public school system. She has been a middle school teacher throughout her career. (This is where you say that she should be knighted and brought lots of chocolate.) Nancy is always looking for ways to encourage children and youth on their respective musical journeys; both of their sons play handbells and are band kids for life.
Nancy has been playing handbells most of her life. She became infatuated with this must-have form of musical oxygen when her church was gifted with a set of handbells. Nancy plays in and directs Mass ApPeal Handbell Choir at Central United Methodist Church. She also plays clarinet in the Ballut Abyad Shrine Concert Band.
Nancy is the chair for the Desert sub-area of Area 11, Handbell Musicians of America. As chair of the Desert sub-area, she represents handbell ringers in the states of New Mexico and Arizona, providing exciting opportunities for learning and participation in this unique musical art. Nancy’s goal as chair is to help handbell groups in New Mexico and Arizona get started and keep thriving.
In her spare time, Nancy enjoys mentoring middle school and high school musicians, cooking, baking, wedding cake creating, hiking, and camping. She looks forward to traveling around the United States and around the world when things are a little less tenuous.
